//Bramblewood Thrifted// Day 2: Book Bags & Blues

Shirt: Thrifted (Old Navy)
Skirt: Thrifted (Cold Water Creek)
Sweater: Thrifted
Belt: Sister's
Shoes: Salt Water Sandals
Bag: Hobby Lobby

Happy Saturday Lovely readers and welcome to Day #2 of the Bramblewood Thrifted blog event! This ensemble was honestly quite inspired by this new book bag I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I have been wanting a cute canvas bag for books and other such things and this "Lets Go On An Adventure" bag is just what I needed. Thus, this ensemble was inspired by simplicity and classic comfort and would be a perfect look to wear to a market day. Oddly enough, the day over spring break that I wore this ensemble was actually one of my thrifting days, so I went thrifting in a thrifted look :)

I picked this skirt up a while ago but I absolutely LOVE it and seem to wear it all the time, especially when I am having a fashion crisis moment because this skirt can go with nearly anything. I thought that since it was navy and white pin stripes it would go great with my denim button up and a cropped cream cardigan. Of course, as it is now spring, I couldn't help but pull out me Salt Water sandals and pair them with a matching tan belt. All in all this look is one of utter comfort mixed with a simple, classic look.

I can't leave this post however with talking about my favorite thing about thrifting.....BOOKS!!! I used to just thrift for clothes but now every time I go into a thrift store I always seem to leave with a book, or two, or three, or four :) Seriously, my library is growing quite rapidly thanks to people who get rid of fabulous books and I get to buy them for dirt cheep at the thrift store. Most often the books I pick up are books I had already wanted to get and just happened to find at the thrift store, so double bonus there! Other times the books I get are ones that sound good.

Until tomorrows post!

What is your favorite thing to thrift?
Have you ever thrifted books?
Do you have a canvas book bag?

  1. Ooooohh, I thrift books by the cartload full. Not quite literally (no room for quite that many reads in our wee home), but certainly in spirit and its rare for me to hit a thrift store and not beeline for the books once I've checked out the jewelry and accessories (clothes and other things follow books as a general rule). We only have one used book store here and sadly it leaves a lot to be desired (including how steep their prices are), so thrifting books is a great way to keep my nightstand stash of "to reads" piled high without breaking the bank, while helping to keep some used books from potentially being thrown out or sent to the recyclers.

This outfit is really, really lovely. Chambray is amazing on you!

  3. Chambray has such a nice texture. The skirt is awesome. This gave me a little inspiration to try tucking a chambray shirt I have into a nipped waist skirt...I didn't realize what a good look it could be!

  5. This outfit feels like a day at the library and coffee dates with friends. I just love it! And since I don't have much time to thrift, I can't give an opinion. I can say that I purchased a canvas book bag from Fair Trade Friday, an organization that empowers women around the world, and I love it!!!! It says, "This Bag Has a Story," I I bring it everywhere!

  6. Love this outfit! I have a skirt and top which are very similar to yours, except my navy skirt has polka-dots on it! I love to thrift books! I have a small collection of old books(all published before the 1960's) which I have picked up from Goodwill and yard sales.

Always, always, books! I have found some absolutely incredible, it must be divinity that I happened across such-and-such a book, at such a time like THIS, books especially in secondhand///thrifting stores. Oh, the stories I could tell ;) And yes I actually own - quite a few! The ones that I treasure and hold on to are the ones with meaningful graphics, like the one you are holding on in this very nice OOTD :)

Came over from Lauren's blog to visit and glad I did! I shall return!

  9. I'be gotten hard cover Hobbit and Harry Potter books from thrift stores! Sometimes you really have to spend the time to search though!
